A life journey through sacred sound, music and ceremonyAnthar Kharana is a Colombian ceremonial musician, composer, medicine man, speaker, and professional sound therapist certified by the British Academy of Sound Therapy.
Born in Ocaña, a small town in the north of Colombia, Anthar comes from a long family lineage of musicians, healers, and traditional people. From a young age, music and ceremony became inseparable parts of his life. He began walking the path of ancestral medicine at the age of 14, learning from Elders from Colombia and the Americas, and has since dedicated his life to the sacred use of sound, fire, prayer, and traditional healing practices. For more than 20 years, Anthar has shared ceremonies, retreats, workshops, sacred music concerts, talks, trainings, and healing spaces in Colombia, the UK, Europe, and different parts of the world. His work weaves ancestral wisdom with sound healing, traditional songs, voice, drum, sacred instruments, and the living presence of nature. Anthar has also been invited to share his work at important international festivals and gatherings, including Medicine Festival in the UK, where he has participated as an ambassador and has offered some of his most iconic ceremonies, including sacred tobacco ceremonies, talks, music offerings, and spaces of prayer around the Sacred Fire. Music has always been at the heart of Anthar’s path. As a composer and recording artist, he has created a unique sound that blends ancestral instruments, medicine songs, world music, and deep ceremonial atmospheres. In recent years, his music has reached a growing international audience, becoming a source of healing, connection, and inspiration for people around the world. Alongside his musical work, Anthar has also composed for international dance and theatre companies, collaborating with artists and performers who explore movement, ritual, and transformation through the body and sound. Anthar is the founder of Tribal Sound Healing in the UK and Colombia, and the founder and director of Kharana Sound Healing Academy in Colombia. He also co-founded ANSU School of Sound & Tribal Healing Arts in Scotland, and today leads Ancestral Pathways School in England. Through his retreats and teachings, Anthar brings together the ancestral memory of Colombia, the medicine of sound, and the wisdom of the Sacred Fire, creating spaces where people can reconnect with nature, community, prayer, and the deeper voice of the heart.
